Skiing and snowboarding, in all their various forms and disciplines, are the ultimate sports - free, friendly, dynamic and fun.

Skiing has been around since about 2,500BC, whilst snowboarding is a much younger activity, with a history that only goes back into the dark reaches of the 1970s and 80s.

Both however have much in common - snow, mountains and the exhilaration that comes from control (or lack of it) in the ultimate human powered/gravity sports. There are some two million skiers and snowboarders in the UK.

The British Ski and Snowboard Federation have been responsible for the management and promotion of snowsport athletes since 1964. Latterly, rapid developments in equipment have changed the pace of Alpine ski racing and the introduction of a range of new generation events, such as Big Air and halfpipe, where skiers and boarders meet, have revolutionised the snowsport industry. We felt it was time to reflect this innovation and fusion in our sports, by adopting an image embracing the one element, which unites us all – Snow!

Snowsport GB is the new face of the national governing body for skiing and snowboarding, however our commitment to the management and promotion of Britain's elite snowsport athletes remains the same. Whatever your interest in Snowsport, we want to help you take it to the edge!
