2001 British Ski & Snowboard Teams
Official Team Announcement
With the opening World Cup of the Northern Hempisphere season (WC Giant Slalom
Sölden, Austria - 28-29 Oct 2000), we proudly present the athletes who will
respresent Great Britain, during the forthcoming season on the FIS (Federation
Internationale de Ski) circuit in Alpine and Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding.
Many of these competitors will be available for interview at the Daily Mail
International Ski & Snowboard Show, at Olympia. If you would like further information,

| Emma Carrick-Anderson |

| Britain's leading, female slalom skier. Last season was her
best yet and she is now ranked 32nd on the World Cup standings. Emma is
bubbly and outgoing and an all-round sportswomen. Among her many interests,
she enjoys mountain-biking, windsurfing and climbing. She is highly confident
and looking forward to the challenges facing her in the winter. |

| Britain's No 1 female Downhill and Super-G skier, had a series
of excellent results last season despite juggling her skiing with studying
full time at Loughborough University. This year, however will see Amanda
concentrating more on her skiing than studies. Judging by her results last
year, Amanda could have a very exciting season ahead of her! |

| This will be Chemmy's first full time season, as she has previously
had to juggle her training with school commitments. She has already made
a strong return to training in the Southern Hemisphere with a GS win over
Zali Steggall, the current World Slalom Champion. |

| Dani, the youngest team member, has been training hard all
summer and has high ambitions for stardom in the Junior Speed events. Last
season was mixed due to injury, however she is more determined than ever
to gain some good results and move up the rankings. |

| Jo is thrilled to be starting her first year as a member of
the team. With a clutch of A levels already in the bag, she can now concentrate
fully on her skiing. The current holder of the British Junior Slalom title
and one to watch in future years. |
| Alain Baxter |

| Alain is Britain's No1 male Slalomist - currently ranked 63rd
in the World. He is hoping for some good World Cup results this season in
preparation for the Olympic games in 2002 which will be his second time
competing. Alain is very popular with the ladies and is often stripped of
his start bib by fanatic females! |
| Ross Green |

| Currently ranked in the World's Top 500 in 3 disciplines,
Ross is an all-rounder who is very hard working and ambitious. Following
an earlier stint at an Austrian Ski Academy, Ross feels quite at ease in
the Team's adopted home in Salzbugerland and chats to his coaches fluently
in their mother tongue. Ross plays golf and cycles to relax. |

| Finlay is Britain's best Downhiller. After a fantastic last
season, which saw him improve 77%, he is now ranked 46th in the World. Finlay
is looking forward to his debut on the World Cup circuit. When not on the
slopes, he enjoys golf and has been seen at various summer music festivals!

| Johnny is chasing Alain up the Slalom rankings and now lies
74th- a massive 65% improvement from his position last year. In his spare
time Johnny keeps up with the latest sporting news and would be a great
contender in "A Question of Sport"! He also has a varied musical taste.

| This season will be Gareth's his first competing as a member
of the Senior team and his results show that he is ready to rise to the
challenges which greet him. He is now fully recovered from a major injury
after a 6 month rehabilitation period with Celtic Football Club and looks
set to take the senior ranks by storm! |
| Noel Baxter |

| Noel will return this winter from injury and will be fighting
back to regain his form and rankings. Previous results show signs of a major
talent- he is a former British Junior Slalom and Super G Champion and a
number of Top 10 places at FIS level. |
| Roger Cruickshank |

| Roger, another new addition to the Team is no stranger to
life as a ski racer having formerly raced for Scotland where he spent last
season in Canada. He hopes ultimately to join the RAF- however, only after
having achieved some great results! |

| Henry has been a member of both the English and Scottish Teams
He is looking forward to his first season with the team and has high hopes
for the future. He will be trying to keep one step ahead of his sister Erica,
also a keen racer, by training hard to help improve his rankings further.
Henry is also very popular with the girls and could be vying with Alain
to be this year's pin-up! |

| Lesley is one of two snowboarders carrying Britain's strongest
medal hopes at the 2002 Olympic Games. A former Alpine Team member, Lesley
became British Snowboard Champion just weeks after retiring from Alpine
Competition. Although now specialising in half-pipe- ranked 19th in the
World, Lesley also competes in Giant Slalom and Boarder X events. |
| Melanie Leando |

St. Ouen |
| A former tetrathlete, Jersey-born Melanie began specialising
in half-pipe in 1994. Fiercely competitive, Melanie has now already achieved
a Top 5 result at World Cup level and has her sights firmly set on Olympic
Gold. Currently based in Bourg St. Maurice, she has perfect access to the
Tarentaise glaciers. |

| Sam Temple |

| A veteran of the Freestyle Team, Sam shows no sign of easing
up with a series of career bests last season. Now training with the Australian
Team, Sam achieved Britain's best ever World Cup moguls result finishing
9th in Dual-competition in Nagano last year. Sam is also a keen sailor and
took time out from mogul skiing to work on a yacht in Finland over the summer
months. |
| Simon Bates |

| With a B.Eng degree under his belt, Simon is now free to compete
full time on the international mogul circuit. He is aiming to challenge
Sam for his number 1 position and also aspires for Olympic selection in
2002. Over the summer months he works as a Ski instructor to support his
campaign. |
| Joanne Bromfield |

Salt Lake City |
| Teenager and ex-pat, Joanne is the new British Moguls sensation
from Olympic venue, Salt Lake City. Although one of the youngest competitors
at the 2000 World Junior Championships, Joanne finished an impressive 5th
in both the Single and Dual competitions. Following a summer spent training
in Australia, Joanne returns to the States for an intensive period combining
skiing with education. |
With nine of the above competitors currently featuring in the top 100 on the
world ranking lists, we are expecting a bumper year for our most talented skiers
