| Gear Trends 2003 - Rossignol |
|
|
Back in January ifyouski were lucky enough to spend a few days in Morzine testing the latest Rossignol skis. So here's the low down on what's hot from Rossignol for 2003!
|
| |
| The Golden Spirit System |
At the top end of the range are the latest Rossignol race skis using the new Golden Spirit System. First seen at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics the Golden Spirit System was developed by a team of technicians, designers, engineers, testers, tuners and of course the Rossignol TEAM racers.
Using a new integrated ski + interface + binding system for short stable skis, these skis are designed for Slalom and very short quick turns. The skis also incorporate 'Activor' a new visco-elastic material that guarantees exceptional forward propulsion and rapid front/rear rebalancing so that if you get back seat in the turn it helps you rebalance. |
 | Having tested them we know you won't be dissappointed if you are looking for a lively and responsive ski. If you want something a little less demanding then you can go for the Viper STX - which gives you just a little bit more room for error and fantastic smooth and precise skiing all over the mountain. |

| The Scratch | The RPM |
 |
The blurb says that Rossignol Scratches make skiing as easy as snowboarding and they may well be right!
Developed by the Rossi snowboard research team in close cooperation with Rossi Team Riders, Tanner Hall, Evan Raps and Julien Regnier Lafforgue, these skis give riders the same sensations as snowboards.
They are much fatter than conventional skis and have twin tips and with the combination of ski and snowboard technology the skis are light, responsive and full of life.
Available in a freestyle version (see left) or a slightly wider back country version.
We loved them! | |
Rossignol RPM's are a top-of-the-range, aggressive, male, ski with a futuristic (although some would say RETRO) design.
Although aimed at the skier X range of the market these high speed carvers were a lot of fun for hooning around the piste.
Good level female skiers who also like to ski aggressively will also enjoy the RPM's especially the RPM 17 which is the narrower of the two models.

| Soft Boots for Women | |
These boots were a big hit with all the female skiers on the test and in fact they were so popular that it was hard to find a pair to test! Warmth, comfort and ease of entry were just a few of the words mentioned and as they come in a number of different leathers and fabrics there's a style to suit all. |
| |
| The Saphir Range for Ladies |
| Designed for the ladies with the input of a team of 20 female skiers, these skis were a huge revelation. More flexible and lighter than unisex skis and with binding mounting zones adapted for women these skis will help you keep up with any of the boys. | | | |
